Three drivers aspire to the second step of the podium, while five teams can still opt for the third step.
The Ciudad de Pozoblanco Rally will be the eighth and final round of the season of the TOYOTA GAZOO Racing Iberian Cup, the single-brand cup organized by Toyota Spain, Toyota Caetano Portugal and MSi. The second edition of the championship with the Toyota GR Yaris RZ Cup will come to an end this weekend (Friday 17 and Saturday 18 November).
With the titles of best junior driver (under 24 years of age), won by Bruno Bulacia, and best team, won by CSM Automoció (which also includes the Bolivian driver), it is yet to be seen who will be the winning driver and co-driver of this exciting season.
Only two couples, Dani Berdomás-Brais Mirón (Breogán Group) and Sergi Francolí-Xavier Moreno (CSM Automoció), the fastest and most victorious couples of the year, have the chance to reach the top of the podium. So far, the Galician driver has achieved four victories, while Francolí has achieved two. Both drivers are eight points apart, although it should be remembered that all the teams will subtract one result from the races held in Portugal and another one from the races held in Spain, therefore the classification will be established based on the resulting points. Provided, of course, that they have participated in at least 5 of the 8 events of the season.
But it will not only be an exciting rally in the fight for the title of the TOYOTA GAZOO Racing Iberian Cup, as the rest of the positions of honour are also at stake. The second step of the podium is for the aforementioned drivers and also Bruno Bulacia (CSM Automoció), while the fight for third place will be frantic and will include Alberto Monarri (IPPON Motor Vallés) and Javi Villa (Astur Hybrid). The latter has had a season in clear ascent and has established himself as the driver with the most podiums in a row this season, which has allowed him to opt for the third final position.
On the other hand, Albert Llovera (Grupo La Grajera) opts for the title as the best Senior driver (over 54 years old). Finishing the rally would be enough to win the award, which, as in the case of the junior driver, has an extra cash prize, which will be added to the prize awarded for their position in the overall classification.
Pedro Lago Vieira (Toyota Caetano Auto) will once again be the only Portuguese driver on the entry list, due to the absence of Ricardo Costa and Miguel Campos, both from the Macedo & Macedo GTW Racing team.
The TOYOTA GAZOO Racing Iberian Cup entry list for this final round is completed by José Carlos Mulero (Labasa), Joan Sabater (CSM Automoció) and Isaac Vera, who returns to the KOBE Motor team, which in the last tarmac rallies had been for Antonio Sainz. In total, there will be ten GR Yaris registered for the event.
The Rally Ciudad de Pozoblanco is held entirely on gravel and consists of a total of 93.66 timed kilometers, divided into eight special stages. The rally starts on Friday 17, with the shakedown and the protocol start, while the special stages will be run on Saturday 18. The longest section will be 15.43 kilometers and the shortest will be just over 4 kilometers. This test, besides scoring for the TOYOTA GAZOO Racing Iberian Cup, belongs to the Spanish Rally Super Championship, so a large crowd is expected under favorable weather conditions.
