The next event, where the title will be settled in the TGRIC will be decided at the Rallye de Murça.
The RallyRACC Catalunya-Costa Daurada was the seventh for the drivers of the TOYOTA GAZOO Racing Iberian Cup. Also it was the last but one event of the season, involving the comeback to gravel in both competitions.
The RallyRACC Catalunya-Costa Daurada has been the seventh scoring test for the drivers of the TOYOTA GAZOO Racing Iberian Cup, the single-brand cup organized by Toyota Caetano Auto, Toyota Spain and Motor & Sport Institute. An appointment that marked the return of gravel to the cup.
In the first special stage of the rally (1.5 km), which was held on Friday evening following the opening ceremony on the promenade of Salou, it was Sergi Francolí (CSM Automoció) who set the best time. For Francolí, this test was his return to the cup with the Toyota GR Yaris RZ Cup, after being the champion in 2022 and runner-up in 2023.
Already on Saturday, in the longest stage of the day, over 23 kilometers, Bruno Bulacia (CSM Automoció) was the fastest driver, which he repeated in the next special stage, achieving a significant advantage over Sergi Francolí (CSM Automoció). Although he won the Gandesa section (TC4), the first TGRIC champion could not get closer to the Bolivian driver and, after the Salou section (TC5), he arrived halfway through the rally 14.9 seconds behind Bulacia.
Behind, Isaac Vera (Kobe Motor) was in third position after this first loop, almost two minutes behind the leader. Josep Bassas (IPPON Motor Vallés), one of the contenders for the title, broke an axle in TC3 and lost all his options in the fight for the victory of the race. In the afternoon he would rejoin thanks to the super rally, so as to score as many points as possible.
On Saturday afternoon, Bruno Bulacia (CSM Automoció) continued to set the pace of the rally, adding two new scratches to take the victory with a lead of 39.5 seconds over Sergi Francolí (CSM Automoció). Isaac Vera (Kobe Motor) finished third, in what has been his best result to date in the TOYOTA GAZOO Racing Iberian Cup.
Behind, Javi Villa (Asturhíbrido) and Pedro Lago (Toyota Caetano Auto) maintained a nice fight throughout the rally. Finally, Villa took fourth position, 7.4 seconds ahead of the Portuguese driver. Manuel Martins finished sixth and the classification was closed by Josep Bassas (IPPON Motor Vallés).
The seventh event has left Bruno Bulacia (CSM Automoció) as leader of the TGRIC, with 142 points, while Javi Villa (Asturhíbrido) is second, with 111 points, and Josep Bassas (IPPON Motor Vallés), third, with 100 points. Pedro Lago (Toyota Caetano Auto) is fourth, with 89 points, followed by Miguel Campos (Macedo & Macedo GTW Racing), with 72.
Thus, the TOYOTA GAZOO Racing Iberian Cup closes the season in Spain, as the next and last event of the season will be held in Portugal, on the occasion of the Rallye de Murça, on 17 and 18 November, also on gravel.
