The CSM Automoció driver wins six of the eight stages and takes the lead in the Toyota single-brand cup.
The Rallye Terras D'Aboboreira ended with a resounding victory for Bruno Bulacia and Axel Coronado (CSM Automoció) in the third event of the TOYOTA GAZOO Racing Iberian Cup. Since the start of the season, this team has shown a high speed that has resulted in its first victory, with more than 54 seconds ahead of the second ranked Ricardo Costa and Rui Vilaça (Macedo & Macedo GTW Racing).
Dani Berdomás (Breogán Group) arrived in Marão with a strong motivation after his victory in the previous rally, and proved to be the only one who managed to keep up with the Colombian driver's pace. At the end of the first stage, he was in second place, just one second behind Bulacia. However, in the first special stage on Saturday morning, he lost more than 7 seconds, just when the third classified, Ricardo Costa (Macedo & Macedo GTW Racing), was already over 25 seconds behind the leader.
And if Berdomás seemed to be the only one who could keep up with Bulacia's pace, in the next special stage the story of the rally was going to change, when the driver from A Coruña broke a suspension triangle after hitting a stone, which forced him to abandon the rally. From then on, Bruno Bulacia (CSM Automoció) won five of the six remaining special stages. His 54-second lead over the second classified driver clearly demonstrates his superiority on the dirt stages of Aboboreira.
Alberto Monarri (IPPON Motor Vallés) did a good rally with a good performance based on regularity. Thanks to two second best times in the last special stages, he got the third place in the final classification.
Sergi Francolí (CSM Automoció) did not have a good start of the rally and could not solve his problems on Saturday morning. Only in the last loop of the rally he managed to ride with the leading drivers and even set the best time in the penultimate stage. Finally, he finished sixth in the general classification, behind Pedro Lago Vieira (Toyota Caetano), who obtained here his best result of the season, in the fifth position, in a rally in which he scored a fourth place as the best partial result in the stages contested.
Miguel Campos started off influenced by two previous results that did not reflect his season in 2022, when he was one of the drivers in contention for the final title. In Aboboreira he also failed to keep up with the top drivers and ended up fourth in the general classification.
With the results of the Rally Terras D'Aboboreira tallied, Bruno Bulacia (CSM Automoció) is the new leader of the TOYOTA GAZOO Racing Iberian Cup standings, two points ahead of Sergi Francolí (CSM Automoció) and Ricardo Costa (Macedo & Macedo GTW Racing), both on 52 points, but with the Spanish driver second, as he has one win this season.
In a difficult rally, the Toyota GR Yaris RZ proved to be perfectly prepared to face the challenge. Bruno Bulacia finished 12th in the overall classification of the event and he was the best of the cars that did not fall into the Rally2 category, proving once again that the techical developments introduced this season make the GR Yaris a very competitive option to run in rallies.
As for the calendar for 2023, the Pozoblanco Rally changes its date and will be held in November. Therefore, the next event on the TGR Iberian Cup calendar will be the Lisbon Rally, to be held on June 24 and 25. This will be the first test on tarmac of this season in the single-brand cup organized by Toyota Spain, Toyota Caetano Portugal and Motor & Sport Institute (MSi).
