Sergi Francolí (CSM Automoció), current leader and winner of this event in 2022, will be the rival to beat in the second eent of the TGR Iberian Cup.
The TOYOTA GAZOO Racing Iberian Cup returns to Spain on March 24 and 25, with the Rally Terra da Auga, to be held in Ordes, Galicia. Undoubtedly, this second event of the season is expected to be exciting, as it will set a new record of competitors in the single-brand cup organized by Toyota Spain, Toyota Caetano Portugal and Motor & Sport Institute (MSi).
A total of 16 teams will take the start, making it the cup with the highest number of participants in the rally. This fact reaffirms the position of the TGR Iberian Cup as one of the most attractive promotional cups for drivers, ideal for them to continue growing as athletes in this specialty of the motor world. Moreover, the cup disputed with the competitive Toyota GR Yaris RZ Cup has an international profile this year, with the participation of teams from five different nationalities.
Sergi Francolí (CSM Automoció) is the driver to beat, given that he won this event last season in his debut with the GR Yaris. Behind him, a very close fight is expected between the other new title contenders. Bruno Bulacia is one of the big favourites: although he had to retire in the first event of the year, the Serras de Fafe Rally, he proved to be the fastest driver and set the best time in 7 timed sections.
Behind him, Ricardo Costa (Macedo & Macedo), who finished second in Fafe, will try to maintain the regularity he showed in 2022, when he was one of the drivers who took the most podiums. This year may be more challenging for him, since the TGR Iberian Cup has some very talented drivers. Alberto Monarri (IPPON Motor Vallés), one of the participants with the most titles in single-brand cups, is an example of this. Dani Berdomás, who races as a local driver, will be one of the most outstanding names.
Miguel Campos, who is also one of the fastest and most experienced drivers in the TOYOTA GAZOO Iberian Cup and who had to retire due to health problems in the Serras de Fafe Rally, will return to Galicia to demonstrate his speed. the French drivers Jean-Michel Raoux (WINTech), Pierre Lafay (CHL Sportauto), Jonathan Rieu (WINTech) and Manu Gascou will join them. On the other hand, Isaac Vera (Kobe Motor) and Pedro Lago (Toyota Caetano Auto), who finished fifth and sixth in the first round of the year, respectively, will attempt to prove to be just as competitive, and will try to close the gap to the leading drivers. José Carlos Mulero (Labasa), Albert Llovera (PCR Sport Club Esportiu), Javi Villa (Asturhíbrido) and Joan Sabater, who joins the TGR Iberian Cup in this rally with the CSM Automoció team, complete the biggest entry list to date in the Toyota promotional cup.
The Rally da Auga starts on Friday afternoon and has a total of 8 timed special stages, plus a show section to be held in the town of Ordes, which will not count for the rally classification. In total, 110 timed kilometres, all of them on gravel.
